Children & Youth
The annual barbecue

Children and young people are an important part of life at Christ Church. Sometimes you hear the phrase "children are the church of tomorrow". We disagree. Children are very much part of what it means to be church today.

In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

There are numerous groups for youth and children at Christ Church. These are explained in more detail below.

kidz@chch.jc

kidz@chch.jc is for children aged between 5 and 10 and meets during the main Sunday morning service (except when there is a family service). Kidz and Pathfinders meet together for a short time of worship/message at the beginning of the session, which helps them to identify as part of a larger group. After this the two groups split for more age-related teaching. kidz@chch.jc also takes an active part in the monthly family service, which is geared around the theme/study which the children are undertaking.

Pathfinders 12-14

Pathfinders is a group where we want to grow strong, mature, young disciples of Jesus Christ. These young people are encouraged to grow in their faith and relationship with Jesus so that His teaching reaches every area of their lives. They are taught to be confident and engaged Christians that are able to relate to a wide range of people enabling them to know their Bible knowledge so that when they speak to others they are able to help and serve them as followers of Christ.

CYFA

CYFA is our youth group for people aged between 14 and 18, which meets weekly at 7:00pm on Sundays.

The CYFA group has 3 aims.

The first is to provide a place for teenagers to meet with each other and make friends.

The second aim comes from our commitment to God. Because CYFA is a Christian youth group, we feel it is important to find out more about God and what He has to say to us - i.e. how is the Bible relevant to us today?

Thirdly we aim to have fun. Jesus said that he came so that we might have life to the full. There is a very serious side to the message the Lord Jesus has given us, but he also wants us to be a people who can have a lot of fun at the same time.
