Christ Church Sidcup – Church Administrator

Job Description

CCS is hoping to appoint an administrator (6 hours a week) from April 2017.


Christ Church is an Evangelical Church of England parish church on the South Eastern edge of London with an adult worshipping community of around 200. After the retirement of our current church administrator in April 2017 we hope to appoint an able administrator to work for 6 hours per week. The church’s administration is overseen an employed Church Coordinator. The administrator we are hoping to appoint will report to the Church Coordinator and perform a number of essential regular administrative tasks.

Key Tasks

  • Weekly production of service sheet and projection slides for Sunday morning and evening services.

  • Administrating copyright (CCLI)

  • Taking bookings for the church hall

  • Photocopying

  • Purchasing and maintaining domestic and administrative supplies

  • Keeping church archives and property registry

  • Registering statistics and marriage returns

  • Keeping friends of Christ Church (ex-members) in touch with the church

  • Answering some administrative queries

  • Maintaining key holders’ list

  • Coordinating the distribution of Contact Magazine to Christ Church Parish

  • Seasonal administrative tasks (e.g. for Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday and Harvest)

    Relevant skills/ qualities

    • Facility with Microsoft Word and Powerpoint

    • Ability and willingness to learn other software packages e.g. Church App and Song Pro

    • Reliability in proof reading

    • Good interpersonal skills

    • A passion for local church to grow

      It would be preferable if the administrator was, or was willing to become, a member of Christ Church

      Working arrangements

    • Report to Church Coordinator

    • Work will be based at home until the completion of the new church office (expected in late 2017)

    • Designated work hours preferable (to be worked out with the Church Coordinator)

    • Occasional evening meetings


      £12 per hour £3,744 pa (i.e. £12.00 per hour) with four weeks annual holiday.

March 2017

Annual leave is 20 days a year plus bank holidays (pro rata) with additional days at Christmas and Easter at the discretion of the Church Wardens.
